Thanks to a co-operation with the Paris Observatory, Cristal Laser has developed a patented (# 9601197000) diffusion-bonding technique allowing to assemble together several optically polished crystals.
This has been a major success with
KTP
crystals, since the adequate assembly of two crystals allows to considerably reduce the walk-off between and waves and hence to increase the overall conversion efficiency. A good example to this is the use of Walk-Off Compensated (WOC) structures for the parametric generation of a 2µm signal wavelength with a 1064nm pump.
Cristal Laser has also successfully performed diffusion-bonded assemblies of YLF crystals with various dopant concentrations (end-capping).
